Dashwood

Designing an off-grid single level family home atop a farm hill, with views from the living and master bedroom spaces to the Cook Straight and Marlborough sounds was a big part of the conversation when we met our clients on a farm hill in Seddon.

This ‘L’ shape home wraps around a central pool with bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry spaces separated from the main living space & master bedroom suite where the owners will primarily spend their lives. Four spacious rooms were created for the overflow of family coming to stay, separated with a split level.

The dwelling is orientated on site to maximise the stunning views and sunlight, with plenty of kodak moments with sunrise and sunsets visible from the the living areas and bedrooms.

The home has been designed with solar and water collection, a modern wood fireplace provide ducted heating to the bedrooms and master-suite, as well as providing heating to the main living space. With large external walls and mechanical ventilation - this throughout the spaces, this home is designed for low energy use.

Residential Renovation
Modal provided excellent early engagement with us on a Wellington house renovation project. They communicated quickly and were very responsive, visiting and patiently talking us through the options and steps.

Renovation
Modal Architecture has been amazing to deal with. We have had an amazing experience dealing with them so far on our renovation project. They have exceeded our expectations of service delivery. From organising the first visit to presentations - everything has been very professional.
